5 Health Mistakes Men Are Guilty Of

I’m fascinated by the relationship between the habits we keep and the life we live. These are choices you make every day, seemingly unimportant, these choices dramatically impact the quality of one’s life and health. Here are some of the health mistakes, that men typically make which can possibly decrease your quality of life.

1.Avoiding the Doc

Appointments can be scary to most but avoiding them shouldn’t be something you’d want to do. Prevention may very well be the cure but early diagnosis almost always improves the prognosis for any disease.

Research by the charity, Men’s Health Forum has revealed that men are 20 percent less likely than women to visit their doctor, despite the fact that they have shorter life spans than women and are more likely to die from cancer.

2.Ignoring self-health assessments

Much like visiting the doctor, most men overlook this for reasons of fear, denial or even confusion. Seemingly unimportant, regular self-assessment for testicular cancer is crucial as the incidence of the disease is slowly climbing, particularly in young and middle-aged men.

3.Smoking

You probably saw this one coming. While the health effects of smoking are well known, it seems that people continue to smoke, often socially. For every year you smoke after age 40, statistics suggest you’re shortening your life by three months. However, chances of successfully quitting increase through seeking help, using nicotine replacement products such as patches, gum, and lozenges, or medication from your doctor. See article I Want to Quit Smoking. Here’s Ho

4.Poor bathroom hygiene

It’s true: Bathrooms are nasty breeding grounds for bacteria and germs that can mess with your health and, sorry, but Dettol alone can’t save you.

The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap and clean, running water.

5. Ignoring Nature’s call

The urge to pee never seem to come at the right time but fighting the urge to pee does more to our kidney than you know. As you continuously ignore the urge to pee, your kidney develops an adaptation mechanism where it slowly loses sensitivity. You may find your bladder to be full and you might not even know it. This sort of nerve damage opens you up to a number of conditions such as infections, kidney damage or even control problems such as an overactive bladder.

Guys, many are not aware that some of the things you do and overlook are big mistakes, particularly when it comes to your health. Watch out and avoid these mistakes, impacting your health.
