Dr Ng graduated in medicine in 1997 from the University of Western Australia and following a training period that included military service, obtained his postgraduate qualifications in surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2002. He went on to obtain further qualifications from the National University of Singapore in 2003 and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007.
