Dr Cheah Si Oon graduated from National University of Singapore in 2004. She became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Emergency Medicine), Edinburgh in 2008 and a registered specialist in Emergency Medicine with the Singapore Medical Council in 2011. She spent most of her training in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Singapore General Hospital. Dr Cheah joined Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in 2014 as a Consultant until she left for private practice in 2020.
Her main area of interest is in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (EMS)
She is a Consultant for the Unit for Pre-hospital Emergency Care (UPEC) in professional training and development section for the paramedics.
She is also a member in the Sports Safety Committee and the Pan Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study (PAROS) committee.
Her main research interest is on sports related Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests (OHCA)
Dr Cheah mastered the art of multi-tasking while training to be an Emergency Physician in Singapore. This proves to be useful skill now that she’s juggling the schedule of her 3 young children. Her love of Emergency Medicine came from her passion to be as proficient as possible to treat patients of all ages and throughout all spectrums of diseases. She is confident with children and understands parental worries. She is also multilingual and down to earth and well-liked by the elderly.
Her involvement in pre-hospital emergency care and sports safety came from the exposure she had working with the paramedics while she was trained with her mentors at Singapore General Hospital. She continues to find time to be involved in community preparedness in managing various emergencies, striving to improve the survival of cardiac arrests in the community as well as improving safety in sports.
