Dr Jimmy Beng was the founder member of the Association of Surgeons of South East Asia and the Singapore Urological Association. Overseas members include Urological Society of Australia, Endourological Society of USA and corresponding member of the American Urological Association.
Dr Beng’s interest in Urology is far and wide ranging and he was with the team that pioneered the Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy in Singapore. This is the breaking of kidney stones without any invasive surgery using shockwaves. He was President of the Singapore Urological Association 1992 to 1993. He was also Chairman of the 10th World Congress on stones and shockwave treatments.
