Her sub-specialty training in diseases of the Retina and her many years of experience in diagnosing and treating these complex disorders make her an authority in this field. She was the Head of the Vitreo-Retina services as well as Head of the Eye Diagnostic Services in the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute / Tan Tock Seng Hospital Department of Ophthalmology. She currently holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Senior Visiting Consultant at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr. Tan received her Vitreo-Retina fellowship training from the prestigious Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (Melbourne, Australia). In addition, she also received sub-specialty training at the Harvard Medical School (Massachusetts, USA).
