Renal Medicine Hypertension Rheumatoid Arthritis Autosomal Polycystic Kidney Disease

Dr. Stephen Chew Tec Huan received his basic degree from the National University of Singapore in 1988. Following a one year housemanship rotation in the Singapore public hospitals and a two year mandatory service in the Singapore Navy as a medical officer, he went on to receive training in internal medicine from the Ministry of Health. He rotated through multiple disciplines in the Singapore General Hospital, and achieved his Masters of the Royal College of Physicians from Edinburgh in 1995. He entered into training in renal medicine in 1995 also from the Singapore General Hospital, and exited as a trained specialist in Renal Medicine in 1998. His training tenure included a year as a research associate in the Duke University Medical Centre, being sponsored by the Health Manpower Development Program from the Ministry of Health. His clinical interest has been broad, with interest in renal disease retardation as well as optimising outcomes on end stage renal disease. He spent most of his professional years after exiting as a consultant nephrologist at the Singapore General Hospital from 1998 to 2004 and has most recently started his own practice in Singapore at Mount Alvernia as well as in Mount Elizabeth. He has been in private practice since May 2004 and continues to serve as a visiting consultant to Changi General Hospital, as well as the Kidney Dialysis Foundation in Singapore.He continues the clinical practice in general nephrology, hypertension, dialysis and renal transplantation. He manages the Immanuel Dialysis Centres at Mount Alvernia Hospital and Ang Mo Kio branch at Ave 10, as well as the newly opened center in Novena Square 2 which is called Advance Renal Therapy. He sits as a member of the medical advisory board to the development of a portable wearable kidney.
