Professional Statement

Since 2008, Consultant Psychologist Valerie Ho has worked with children and teenagers with a wide range of developmental, learning and social-emotional challenges. From her experience amassed in hospital and community settings, she has seen conditions that have ranged from severe to the very mild, and is astute in the assessment and diagnosis of developmental conditions and learning disorders. She is also very experienced in preparing reports for deferment of primary education, placement in special education school, and examination exemptions or access arrangements.

She believes in building strong relationships with parents and caregivers, working together with them to understand their child’s challenges, empowering them to advocate for their child, and journeying with them through their ups and downs. Valerie is passionate about working with families from low socio-economic backgrounds and dedicates a part of her time to provide her expertise to them. She recently found out that she also enjoys grooming new blood joining this sector, providing training and supervision to specialist teachers.
