Keto Diet – What Are The Benefits?

The keto or ketone diet refers to a ketogenic diet, which is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet. The goal is to get more calories than carbohydrates from protein and fat. Its role is to consume your sugar bank, so it will begin to break down protein and fat to produce energy, leading to ketosis (and weight loss).

A very popular keto diet is the Atkins diet. This is what you can eat when are on a keto diet:

Here are some of the benefits of a Keto Diet:

Helps to lose weight

Converting fat to energy requires more work than converting carbohydrates into energy. Because of this, the ketogenic diet can help speed up weight loss. And because of the high protein content in the diet, it does not make you hungry like any other diet. In a meta-analysis of 13 different randomized controlled trials, 5 results showed that the ketogenic diet significantly reduced body weight.

Reduce acne

There are many different causes of acne, one of which may be related to diet and blood sugar. Consuming a diet rich in processed and refined carbs can actually alter intestinal bacteria and also cause dramatic fluctuations in blood glucose – both of which have an impact on skin health. Therefore, by reducing the intake of carbohydrates, it is not surprising that the ketogenic diet can reduce certain acne cases.

Can help reduce the risk of cancer

Recently, extensive investigations were conducted on ketogenic diets to see how they help to prevent or treat certain cancers. One study found that the ketogenic diet may be a suitable supplement to chemotherapy and radiation for cancer patients. This is because it causes more oxidative stress in cancer cells than normal cells. Other theories believe that because ketogenic diets can reduce hyperglycemia, insulin complications can be reduced, which may be related to certain cancers.

Improve heart health

When tracking ketogenic diets in a healthy way (thinking that avocados are healthy fats, not pork skins), there is evidence that diets can improve heart health by lowering cholesterol. One study found that HDL (“good”) cholesterol levels increased significantly after the ketone diet. Low-density lipoprotein (“bad”) cholesterol decreased significantly.

Can protect the function of the brain

More research is needed on ketone diets and brains. Some studies have shown that a ketone diet can provide neuroprotection. These may help treat or prevent Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and even some sleep disorders. One study even found that children’s alertness and cognitive function improved after the ketogenic diet.

May reduce seizures

It is believed that the combination of fat, protein, and carbohydrates changes the way the body uses energy, leading to ketosis. Ketoacidosis is an increase in ketone body levels in the blood.

Ketosis can lead to reduced seizures in patients with epilepsy. Although it seems to be the most effective for children with focal seizures, the jury still does not understand this actual effect.

Improve the health status of PCOS women

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disease that causes enlargement of ovarian cysts. A high carbohydrate diet can have a negative effect on PCOS patients. There are not many clinical studies on the ketogenic diet and PCOS.

If you are not familiar with the keto diet or are just learning the ropes, your biggest problem may be how much high-fat low-carbohydrate foods you can eat around a low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet. In general, keep in mind that most of the calories in the ketone diet come from foods that are naturally high in fat and moderate in protein. Those foods that are severely restricted are foods that can provide large amounts of carbohydrates, even those that are commonly considered “healthy,” such as whole grains.

The biggest change in your daily life habits will be how you buy food and cooking methods, and you need to follow productive recipes, not just low carbs. You need healthy fat to enter ketosis, and there is no carbohydrate to have enough energy. When cooking your own relatives and friends, you will be more energetic and healthier than buying ready-made keto food.
