SERI Fundus Screening for Eye & Heart Health!

They say that the eyes are the windows to your soul. But, do you know? Take it to heart, the eyes can be windows to your heart too. Doctors are able to make predictive risk from the vasculature analysis using advanced Machine and Deep Learning AI engine.

Fundus screening is a simple process. It involves taking a microscopic photo of the fundus at the back of your eye. It is a quick, non-invasive screening that is able to detect major eye conditions. Examples are cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration or AMD, and diabetic retinopathy (disease of retinal blood vessels).

However, it is just not about eye conditions only. In fact, using an AI powered engine to analyse these studies, doctors are also able to detect heart issues. Cardio-vascular concerns such as risks of atherosclerosis. This is a disease where there is the buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on your artery walls. Research shows that it is possible to map the scan, together with an artificial intelligence engine, to correlate with a coronary artery calcium score. Hence this screening method assists doctors to diagnose with an accuracy of 96% for eye and 83% for heart risk referrals.

Future of Fundus Screening – a Health Screening Tool

Effectively, this method of screening has an immediate potential as a primary screening tool, suitable for patients of all ages especially those in the older age group. As it is non-invasive, there is no unnecessary stress. Go for your eye check now! You will learn more about both your eye and heart health.
